After breakfast, begin a full day dedicated to Ephesus and its remarkable biblical heritage.
Ancient City of Ephesus
Ephesus was one of the most influential cities of the Roman province of Asia, celebrated for its wealth, commercial importance and monumental architecture.
Walking through its ancient streets offers an extraordinary introduction to the urban world of the New Testament.
Explore the impressive Library of Celsus, the Great Theatre, Curetes Street, Temple of Hadrian and the remains of the city's public buildings.
Ephesus also played a significant role in the spread of early Christianity.
The Apostle Paul spent considerable time in the city, and the Christian community of Ephesus is the first of the seven churches addressed in the Book of Revelation.
Your guide will explain the city's religious traditions, everyday life and historical background, helping you understand the environment in which its early Christian community developed.
House of the Virgin Mary
Continue into the hills above Ephesus to visit the House of the Virgin Mary.
Surrounded by a peaceful wooded landscape, this Christian pilgrimage site is traditionally associated with the final years of Mary's life.
The site offers an opportunity to learn about the religious traditions connecting Mary with the Ephesus region.

Built during the Byzantine period, the basilica is traditionally associated with the burial place of John the Apostle.
Its surviving columns, foundations and monumental remains reflect the importance of the site as a destination for Christian pilgrims.
Temple of Artemis
Conclude the historical visits at the remains of the Temple of Artemis, once recognised as one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World.
Although little of the original temple survives today, the sanctuary provides an important connection to the religious environment of ancient Ephesus.

During the Byzantine period, parts of the complex were adapted for Christian use.
